MetaMask, the leading self-custodial wallet from ConsenSys, has announced a strategic integration with Sei, a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain, unlocking seamless access to Sei’s rapidly growing ecosystem for users worldwide.

This integration enables MetaMask users to engage with Sei-native assets and decentralized applications (dapps) directly from within their wallet. As of now, MetaMask supports 11 different blockchains, and the inclusion of Sei fortifies its ambition to evolve into a unified multi‑chain platform.

Within the MetaMask Portfolio interface, users can access a dedicated Sei section featuring the network’s dApps, tokens, and NFTs. They can swap and bridge assets and even purchase native Sei tokens via fiat methods, simplifying cross‑chain transactions and reducing reliance on external tools.

The integrated approach aims to eliminate friction and enhance user safety, MetaMask frames this as a “guard‑railed experience” that shields users from prevalent Web3 risks by avoiding the need for multiple wallets or unreliable bridges.

Since the EVM‑compatible upgrade (V2) launched in May 2024, Sei has seen daily transactions rise to approximately 4.2 million, fueling notable ecosystem growth. In Q1 2025, the network’s TVL grew to $363 million, marking a 73.7% increase over the previous quarter.

Sei’s architecture offers low-latency, high-throughput performance suitable for trading and asset markets, further solidifying its appeal among developers and liquidity providers.

MetaMask’s Global Product Lead, Gal Eldar, underscored the integration’s user-centric mission: “Expanding MetaMask to support emerging networks like Sei is about solving real problems for users. Web3 is moving toward a multi‑chain reality, and users shouldn’t have to wrestle with different wallets or complex bridges to participate. By bringing Sei into MetaMask, we’re delivering a smoother and safer experience that we believe will help bring the next wave of users into Web3.”

Justin Barlow, Executive Director at the Sei Development Foundation, emphasized the mutual benefits: “MetaMask’s integration unlocks Sei’s high‑performance blockchain infrastructure for over 100 million users worldwide. This partnership provides Sei’s growing ecosystem with unprecedented reach while delivering a seamless onboarding experience that users already know and trust. It’s a milestone that takes Sei one step further in building the best high‑performance EVM ecosystem.”

This development reflects a larger industry trend toward interoperability and consolidation of fragmented user experiences. Web3 users traditionally navigate numerous wallets and bridges, which remains a formidable barrier to onboarding. MetaMask's extension into new networks like Sei aligns with this evolving need for accessibility and cohesion.

While early integrations build trust and simplify entry, the broader challenge remains: making Web3 both powerful and intuitive enough for mainstream audiences.

MetaMask continues to define itself as more than just a wallet. Built by ConsenSys, the Ethereum-software powerhouse founded in 2014, MetaMask serves as a gateway to NFTs, DAOs, DeFi, and more. Through deliberate expansions, such as the Sei integration, the platform aims to deliver a fully token- and chain-agnostic experience, narrowing the gap between complex infrastructure and simplifying usability.

With Sei now integrated into MetaMask’s robust network suite, users gain streamlined access to one of the fastest-growing EVM-compatible ecosystems. This move not only bolsters MetaMask’s multichain capabilities but also elevates the visibility and accessibility of Sei’s growing dapp infrastructure.
