The UAE has announced a new $272 million (AED 1 billion) International Space Cooperation Programme aimed at strengthening global partnerships, supporting advanced research, and accelerating the country’s long-term space ambitions.

The initiative was announced during a meeting of the Supreme Space Council chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Council.

The new program is designed to support international collaboration in space science, technology, and research while helping develop national expertise and advanced industrial capabilities within the UAE.

The development reflects the country’s broader push to position itself as a major player in the global knowledge economy through investment in high-growth sectors tied to science, innovation, and advanced technologies.

Building International Partnerships

Officials said the program will focus on strengthening international cooperation across the global space sector.

The initiative is expected to support projects tied to scientific research, knowledge exchange, advanced technologies, and specialized workforce training.

Following the meeting, the space sector remained positioned as a strategic priority for the UAE as the country continues building a future driven by knowledge and innovation.

The program also aligns with the UAE’s broader efforts to strengthen local technological capabilities while creating opportunities for international collaboration across multiple areas of the space economy.
