Nestlé has inaugurated its SparX Innovation Hub at the company’s new Middle East and North Africa head office in Expo City Dubai, expanding its regional innovation work around artificial intelligence, consumer insight, and co-creation.
The company said the hub is designed to help teams identify emerging consumer needs earlier, test ideas faster, and develop products, services, and experiences that are more closely aligned with local markets.
The inauguration was attended by Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism; Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and CEO of Expo City Dubai Authority; Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director of Expo City Authority; and Yasser Abdul Malak, Chairman and CEO of Nestlé Middle East and North Africa.
AI Meets Consumer Insight
SparX is positioned as a practical innovation platform rather than a standalone technology project. Nestlé said the hub will use AI, data, and advanced technologies to capture real-time consumer signals and turn them into actionable insights.
The company’s approach builds on its earlier partnership with Dubai AI Campus, which was announced in 2025 to develop AI-powered tools for identifying product innovation opportunities. That partnership focused on analyzing trends, generating consumer insights, and supporting faster product development across the region.
Yasser Abdul Malak, Nestlé Chairman and CEO for the Middle East and North Africa, said: “The Middle East and North Africa is one of the world's most dynamic regions, with consumers who are shaping global trends. SparX reflects our confidence in the talent, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit of this region. The best ideas come from bringing together diverse perspectives, challenging conventions, and staying relentlessly close to consumers. SparX embodies that mindset, creating an environment where technology enhances human creativity and where collaboration turns bold ideas into meaningful innovation.”
Part of Expo City’s Green Innovation District
The new hub also places Nestlé inside Expo City Dubai’s wider innovation ecosystem. Nestlé said it is a strategic partner in the UAE’s first Green Innovation District, a joint initiative of the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism and Expo City Dubai.
Expo City Dubai has described the district as a platform for sustainability-focused businesses, innovation, and clean-growth initiatives. The city previously announced that Nestlé would move its MENA head office to Expo City Dubai, framing the relocation around shared priorities in healthier communities, sustainability, and innovation.
H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, added: “Thanks to the directives of its wise leadership, the UAE continues to develop an integrated economic model underpinned by effective partnerships with the global private sector. These efforts contribute to supporting the goals of economic diversification and enhancing the country’s position as a leading destination for investment and business.”
He pointed out that enabling an environment of innovation and employing advanced technologies are fundamental pillars in developing the new economy sectors and raising the efficiency and sustainability of supply chains, which enhance the national economy’s readiness to keep pace with rapid global shifts.
Regional Strategy and Business Context
The launch comes as global food and beverage companies increasingly rely on local consumer data, AI-assisted trend analysis, and faster product testing to compete in fragmented markets. In the Middle East and North Africa, consumer preferences vary widely across income levels, cultures, climates, and retail channels, making regional insight especially important.
Nestlé’s regional footprint gives the company a large operating base for applying those insights. The company operates 25 food and beverage factories across 19 countries in the region and directly employs more than 10,000 people.
The SparX hub gives Nestlé a more visible innovation anchor in Dubai at a time when the UAE is working to attract global companies, technology partnerships, and sustainability-focused businesses. Rather than presenting AI as a replacement for human judgment, Nestlé’s messaging around SparX emphasizes the combination of data, local understanding, and collaboration with startups, universities, technology partners, and government entities.
Nestlé said the SparX Innovation Hub will be open to partners interested in shaping future innovation with the company. The hub’s practical impact will likely depend on how quickly its insights translate into products, services, or consumer experiences that reach regional markets.
With its new head office at Expo City Dubai and a formal innovation platform now in place, Nestlé is signaling that the region is not only a market for global brands, but also a testing ground for ideas shaped by local consumer behavior.
