Saudi Pro League club NASSR FC has signed a strategic sponsorship agreement with Saudi artificial intelligence company HUMAIN, a partnership that combines traditional commercial rights with plans to explore how AI could be applied across elite football operations.
Under the agreement, HUMAIN will become NASSR FC's official sponsor for the 2026–27 season while also serving as the club's lead jersey sponsor. The partnership additionally grants HUMAIN naming rights to the club's new training center, expanding the relationship beyond conventional sponsorship arrangements.
The announcement positions the collaboration as an effort to examine how artificial intelligence, data analytics and digital technologies may contribute to areas including club operations, athlete development and supporter engagement.
AI Becomes a Larger Part of Sports Strategy
The partnership reflects a broader trend in professional sports, where clubs increasingly view technology partnerships as extending beyond brand visibility into operational capabilities.
The agreement aligns with its sports-focused division, HUMAIN Sport, which is intended to develop AI applications spanning athlete performance, club management, fan engagement and sports technology innovation. The company described the sponsorship as an opportunity to explore practical AI use cases rather than limiting the relationship to advertising exposure.
Although many professional clubs use data analysis in recruitment, tactical preparation and performance monitoring, the announcement suggests NASSR FC intends to examine a wider range of AI-enabled services across football operations.
Partnership Builds on Saudi AI Investment
The agreement also reflects Saudi Arabia's wider investment in artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.
HUMAIN, a company backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), has been expanding partnerships across the AI sector since its launch. Earlier this year, the company announced collaborations with several global technology firms as it seeks to develop AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, language models and enterprise AI solutions.
NASSR FC likewise has pursued infrastructure and commercial expansion in recent years while growing its international profile. The club has attracted increased global attention through high-profile player signings and has continued investing in facilities and commercial partnerships aimed at strengthening its global brand.
Against that backdrop, the agreement brings together two organizations pursuing growth in different areas: HUMAIN through AI infrastructure and enterprise technology, and NASSR FC through commercial development, facilities and international visibility.
Club and Company Outline Long-Term Objectives
HUMAIN Chief Executive Officer Tareq Amin said: “At HUMAIN, we are building AI infrastructure, platforms and technologies that enable the next generation of innovation across industries. Partnering with NASSR FC creates an opportunity to engage one of the world's largest football communities while exploring how technology can enhance the experience for supporters and contribute to the continued evolution of sport.”
NASSR FC Chief Executive Officer José Semedo added: “ At NASSR FC, we are building one of the world's most progressive football clubs, and that requires sponsors who share our ambition. We are excited to welcome HUMAIN as our main sponsor and connect its vision with millions of NASSR FC supporters around the world. This sponsorship reflects our commitment to leading Saudi football's next era of innovation.”
Both executives emphasized that future initiatives are expected to extend beyond jersey sponsorship.
AI Broadens the Scope of Sponsorship
The agreement illustrates how commercial relationships in professional sports continue evolving beyond traditional sponsorship models.
Historically, shirt sponsorships focused primarily on brand visibility during matches and media broadcasts. More recent partnerships increasingly incorporate technology, digital platforms and operational collaboration, particularly as clubs seek new revenue streams and improved fan experiences.
The HUMAIN-NASSR FC agreement reflects that shift by pairing conventional sponsorship rights with plans to explore AI across athlete development, club management and supporter engagement. The arrangement also includes lead jersey sponsorship and naming rights for the club’s new training center.
